Woo! Three more super-kick-ass comics!

PvP – Another of the great ones. Scott Kurtz has been going strong since 1998. Like Penny Arcade’s Mike Krahulik, Scott’s technical abilities have come a long way over the last 12 years. His skills are legendary. I highly recommend watching the occasional live stream or time-lapse video of him drawing the comic (or those of any comic you admire). Free lessons in awesome.

Questionable Content – Hard to say what this one is exactly about. It’s loosely centered around a group of friends and a coffee shop (great, now I have the Friends theme song stuck in my head). But it also includes horny anthropomorphic computers and a very loud and very vulgar bird who fills in when Jeph is away. Like other long-running comics, the style has really flourished. I guess it helps to draw every day. Jeph has really kicked it up a notch in the last six months or so.

Rob and Elliot – An infrequent comic about two friends and their zany adventures. It’s a solid read. Hard to describe, but consistently funny.

That’s it for now. See you on Monday. I’m off to shovel some snow. Viva el Niño!

Clicky-poo for numero seven!

Three more super-sweet comics for you to read now!

LOLBots – A mini-comic spin-off of Diesel Sweeties featuring all of the non-human characters from DS. A little more light-hearted and less frequent than Diesel Sweeties. If you’re a fan of R. Stevens, you will love. The beginning.

Ninjerktsu – Occasional comics by Willis Carrier, a storyboard artist at Dreamworks Animation. Usually featuring a Ninja who is a jerk, hence the name. Great sketchy, storyboardy style and sharp humor. First Post!

Penny-Arcade – The legendary webcomic by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, also known as their in-comic doppelgangers, Gabe and Tycho. These guys defined webcomic. They’ve been doing it since 1998. That’s insane. Now they’ve got a whole company built around the comic and merch. They have their own convention and run a charity called Child’s Play. The comic is usually about games, but it’s approachable for non-gamers too. This is the first webcomic I started reading regularly. Highly recommended. Here’s the first one (if you have tons of free time).

Off to number six with ye!

Here we go with another three outstanding webcomics!

Floodmud – Robots in existential crisis drawn by fellow Whiskernero, Josh Jones with occasional writing assistance from the fantastical Motke Dapp. It’s a relatively new comic off to a great start. I mean it has robots. Do I even need to sell it to you? Try it from the beginning.

Indexed – Not a comic in the strictest sense, but more like daily chart-based satire. Drawn by Jessica Hagy daily since 2006. I’m having a hard time even finding the first one to link to. But anyway, it’s awesome. check it out.

Invisible Hair Suit – Edgar R. McHerly mixes childlike joy with truly disturbing concepts and comes up with a freaking fantastic comic. Try it from the very start.

Number Five, alive!

Here we are in the third installment. There are some really good ones in this batch!

Daisy Owl – This is probably my favorite comic ever. The title character is a little girl who’s been adopted by an owl along with her brother, Cooper. Mr. Owl also has a goofy bear friend named Steve. It’s so amazing and sweet and funny. You really should start at the beginning.

Diesel Sweeties – The long-running (ten years!) pixelated comic about robots and humans in love. Full of topical humor and animated giffyness. You can start at the beginning (the current comic is number 2469, so get comfortable) or start with this awesome primer that R. Stevens has done.

Dinosaur Comics – There is a magic here that is untenable. The same panels every day for seven years. Sometimes wordy, never a letdown. One of the greats. The beginning.

That’s it for today. As expected, I’ve already added two comics to my daily list since I started this series of posts. I’ll cram them all in at the end or something.

To the fourth!

Here are the next three webcomics. Four through six out of the 27 I read daily:

Bellen! – A recent addition to my daily reading, but a comic that’s been around for a while. It’s about a young couple and their everyday lives (a surefire shortcut to my favorite list). It’s scary how similar Ben and Ellen’s life is to mine and Meghan’s (I’m sure everyone says that). Box Brown always adds a nice paper texture to the comics so it has a warm newspapery feel.

chainsawsuit – Chris Straub’s gag-a-day comic that was the biggest inspiration for I ♥ Bears. Chris is practically omnipresent in the world of webcomics. He keeps popping up in places I never expected, like the Tweet Me Harder podcast with Wondermark creator, David Malki. I didn’t even know those guys knew each other! It’s like finding out that David Hasselhoff and Tom Selleck have a pirate radio show. OK, not exactly like that.

Creep House – a newer comic by Thinkin’ Lincoln creator Miles Grover. Features fantasy creatures and monsters living in a house together and experiencing situational humor. Hilarity and possible copyright infringement ensue! Both of Miles’s comics are on hiatus now, but I eagerly await their imminent return.

That’s it for now. If you have a favorite comic that you don’t see on this list, drop me a comment. I’m always up for a new one.

To number three!
